Reducing Emissions with Energy Auditing

Many companies are establishing carbon reduction goals, such as achieving net zero carbon by 2035. A great first step to start working toward these goals is through energy auditing. Energy auditing helps facilities determine where their energy is going and can identify energy improvement projects that can reduce scope 1 and scope 2 emissions. This is achieved by determining an energy baseline period, creating an energy model, then adjusting the model to see how energy improvement projects would reduce the energy consumption and emissions.
This presentation will focus on how to utilize energy auditing to estimate and achieve greenhouse gas reductions for energy improvement projects. Example audit results will be used to demonstrate emissions reductions. The presentation will provide insight on ways to reduce emissions onsite through the auditing process.
The target audience will receive an overview of energy auditing and its benefits, energy improvement projects, and scope 1 and scope 2 emissions.

Jessica Allen P.E. is an energy engineer at Advanced Energy who conducts energy assessments at industrial and commercial facilities. She provides energy management support to assist customers in developing strategic energy management and demand response plans and performing energy benchmarking. She helps to deliver ISO 50001 trainings through cohorts for various groups. She has over ten years of experience in HVAC, mechanical system and energy efficiency projects, including roles designing LEED-certified buildings. Jessica has extensive experience with many different mechanical systems for various types of commercial facilities. She is also a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina.
