Best Practices for Planning to Convert Fleets to Electric Vehicles and the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Necessary to Support EVs

With nearly half of US consumers concerned about battery or charging issues we have a long way to go before the necessary charging infrastructure is in place to support the growing demand for EVs. This abstract will discuss the best practices of the planning required to convert fleets to EVs and the infrastructure required to support those fleets. We will also discuss best practices for locating and installing EV charging infrastructure in commercial, institutional, and municipal buildings to support the growing demand for workplace EV charging. This abstract will cover the following topics and more:
• Types of EV charging stations
• EV Infrastructure charging planning and site assessments
• Charge Management Systems and utility rate analysis
• Projected electric fueling needs and power demand
• Alternate power storage and generation options
• Infrastructure procurement, installation, and associated costs
• Incentives, tax credits and grants
• Fleet conversion planning
