Pump System Optimization- The Key to Improve Sustained Energy Efficiency and Operations Reliability

Pump systems not optimized for best efficiency reduce reliability and present more engineering, operational and maintenance issues. They also drain profits with higher energy and maintenance costs due to shortened time between repairs. A pump system assessment is needed to identify problem areas where the greatest opportunity for improvement exists to improve pump systems efficiency and reliability.

This presentation will discuss pump system interactions, pump system screenings, life cycle cost analysis and the methodologies and processes for conducting a comprehensive pump system audit. Also, this presentation will provide the tools and software necessary to improve centrifugal pump system efficiency, reduce energy and operating costs, and increase reliability.

Presentation participants will learn about data collection methodologies such as identifying the system curve of the pumping system, measuring pump and motor operating data and how pressure, flow and input power affect reliability in today’s pumping systems. Using these measurement methods, reliability engineers can preliminarily quantify potential reliability improvements and determine the magnitude of savings.

Overall, attendees of this presentation will gain a better understanding of the pumping system assessment process in evaluating system reliability, recommending improvements, and conducting reliability analysis for long-term profitability. Bottom-line, the presentation outlines the key system management process needed to identify common causes of problematic pump operations in providing solutions to improve reliability operations and increase productivity for pumping systems.
